HISTORY AND PERSONNEL

This practice was established by Roy Ilott, FRICS in 1980 after 14 years' experience in the maintenance and refurbishment on all types of properties. During this period he worked for local authorities, a nationalised industry, private practice, insurance company investment department and property company.

This experience covered the full range of services for the acquisition and on-going management of properties.

The practice developed over the first ten years to provide a wide service, from two offices, throughout the southern home counties to include initial surveys, development appraisals, design and specification of new buildings, alterations and on-going maintenance and premises management.

Since 1990 we have restructured to a small central core with a network of small companies and sole practitioners with whom we work to provide a comparable service to provide surveys of buildings, design new buildings and extensions, and plan maintenance contracts.

The practice became an incorporated limited company at the end of 2002, but retained the trading name of Roy Ilott & Associates.

Roy Ilott, FRICS now specialises in the 3D's of building surveying:

• Defects
• Dilapidations
• Disputes

As it is now easier to travel, and park, away from London! we are now developing the practice by working further into West Surrey, Hampshire and Dorset. We have therefore opened an office at The Design Centre, Crusader Park, Warminster, BA12 8BT.

ROY J ILOTT, FRICS

Roy was qualified in 1969 and has a wide range of experience in the repair/alteration and survey or properties of all types and sizes. His advice is apparently appreciated for its pragmatic and realistic nature, with client referrals being a major source of new work in dilapidations, expert witness and building defects. He is extensively involved within the RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors), currently sitting on the International Governing Council and the RICS Internal Appeals Panel and has represented the RICS on the NHBC since 1987. He represents the RICS on SEERA, (the South East England Regional Assembly), as an Economic Partner. Roy is an Individual Member of the Expert Witness Institute.

Roy speaks for the RICS on construction and building defect matters to television, radio and newspapers. He has written several articles and speaks on dilapidations and expert witness issues at events organised by the RICS, EWI and others.

DAVID ERRICKER, ACOIB

David has been working in surveying since 1988, mostly with ROY ILOTT & ASSOCIATES. He currently has a contract with a major London borough for several days a week, and is responsible for most of the extension and alteration contracts of the practice.

Design is carried out on CAD, using Robocad or Archicad. His work ranges from office to residential refurbishments and new buildings, with the largest contract values being a part of a Design and Build package of £1m+.
